These terms cover your use of CommonScene. They are meant to be read once and understood, so they are short. Using the site means you accept them.

Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old to have a CommonScene account.
• You are responsible for the information you give when you register, including your email address, and for keeping it accurate.
• If you are banned from CommonScene, you should not create a new account to get around it.

Your account

• You are responsible for your own credentials. Do not share your password, and do not let someone else use your account.
• Nobody from CommonScene will ever ask you for your password. If someone does, they are not us.
• Do not use an account to impersonate another person deceptively, whether a member here or someone outside the site.
• Accounts may be suspended or terminated for serious or repeated violations of these terms or the Site Rules.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you create. Posting something here does not hand it over to CommonScene.

To actually run the site, CommonScene needs permission to handle your content in the ordinary ways a website must: to store it, copy it as part of normal operation and backups, display it to the people you posted it for, and send it to their browsers. You grant CommonScene that limited, non-exclusive permission for as long as the content is on the site, and only for the purpose of operating CommonScene.

That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, as far as is reasonably possible. Some copies may persist where they cannot practically be pulled back, including:

• backups, until they age out;
• records kept for security, moderation, or legal reasons, such as a copy saved with a report;
• content that is bound up with other members' content, such as a reply quoting you;
• copies other people have already saved or shared.

You should only upload content you have the right to share.

How you may use CommonScene

The Site Rules are the detailed version and are part of these terms. In short, do not use CommonScene for:

• unlawful activity;
• harassment, threats, or targeting other members;
• attempts to break into accounts, or to attack, overload or probe the service;
• spam or bulk unsolicited messaging;
• impersonation;
• content prohibited by the Site Rules.

Moderation

Where reasonably necessary to enforce the rules or protect the site and the people on it, CommonScene may remove content, limit what an account can do, suspend an account, or terminate an account.

Moderation here is done by people, in their own time. It will not always be immediate, consistent, or correct. If you think a decision was wrong, say so through Help & Contact and it will be looked at again.

Copyright and intellectual property

Upload only what you have the right to upload. If you believe something on CommonScene infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, report it through Help & Contact, describing the content, where it is, and what right you hold.

CommonScene does not currently have a registered DMCA agent. Reports are handled directly by the people who run the site.

Availability

CommonScene is a small site run by a small number of people. It will have downtime, maintenance, bugs, and changes to features. Data loss is unlikely but not impossible. The site is provided as it is, without a promise that it will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, and without a guarantee that any particular feature will keep existing.

Keep your own copies of anything you would be upset to lose.

Ending your use

You may stop using CommonScene at any time. There is not yet a self-service account deletion feature; ask through Help & Contact and it will be handled by hand. CommonScene may suspend or end an account as described under Moderation.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change as the site changes. Reasonable notice of material changes will be given through the site — CommonScene News, a site notice, or the official CommonScene account. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
